In short, we need your help in acknowledging, uplifting and celebrating GIRLS!
Girls are sent very different messages from birth than are boys about leadership, money, emotions, clothing, promiscuity and the list goes on. When a girl is told she is a "bad girl" for doing the same thing she would be praised for if she were a guy, it is a pretty heavy blow to a girl's self-worth.
Girls as young as ten years old are dumbing themselves down so they won't be called "bossy" or a "know-it-all". We have young adult women baring it all in videos, crying out for the attention and shine they believe they will never get "playing by the rules". For most adult women, leadership was taught to be a man's sport with rules only a man could play. Most adult women were taught to take care of the home, take care of the children and to be a support to their men in leadership.
Girls have been brainwashed by media--the music videos, gaming, magazines, by pop culture and by society to believe that our bodies are our worth. When is the last time you witnessed a fully-clothed female superhero? Our girls are routinely inundated with messages that they are objects of desire.
