AISHA MARTIN ORGANIZATIONAL, CHARITABLE & COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS
Aisha Martin a nurturer by nature is a cultured, creative, power house with a youthful spirit and personable demeanor. Raised and educated primarily in Europe she has combined her artistic gifts, global travel and experiences as a seasoned biologist with her heart for inspiring girls to be authentic, confident STEM leaders. Aisha’s STEM journey spans almost a decade and began at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, GA as a Molecular Biologist. She has held positions at Emory University Medical School, the Georgia Public Health Lab and Baylor-Miraca Genetics Lab. As a certified Girls Empowerment Coach, her vision is to close the “gender gap to innovation,” by engaging girls from underserved and historically underrepresented communities through early exposure to STEM education and specialized mentoring. Aisha holds a B.S. (2007) in Biology from Clark Atlanta University and is nearing completion of an M.S. (2016) in Forensic Science from National University.
Her experiences as a female scientist in a male dominated industry, coupled with her frustration at the lack of female STEM role models and mentors were the inspiration behind Fems4STEM™ which she founded in 2015. Aisha saw the need for early exposure to STEM through hands on activities and resources and a void in female mentorship that needed to be filled in order for girls to be successful and competitive in STEM combating the lack of gender diversity in STEM professions. She found that if more girls were exposed to STEM with the support of a female mentor on a consistent basis and with whom they could identify, they were more likely to pursue a STEM degree and career. Fems4STEM™ is on a mission to empower, inspire and equip a nation of girls with the knowledge; skills and confidence to be global STEM leaders.
She has been featured in Connected Woman Magazine and recognized at the 2015 Tween Star Awards as a Mentoring Star for her passion and dedication to mentoring girls and honored with the Presidential Volunteer Service Award signed by U.S. President Barack Obama. She has also been a featured guest on Connecting Atlanta Radio powered by World Star Hit Radio.
Aisha's global travel and experiences lend themselves well to her role overseeing Organizational Partnerships, Charitable Donations, Fundraisers, Sponsorships, Community Involvement, & Research Implementation for the Tween Star Awards™ a national recognition platform for girls. She is also a proud volunteer at sister organization B2F Girls™ assisting in various capacities to facilitate their mission of “empowering one million girls with healthy esteem and unapologetic fierce!”
She currently resides in Texas with her husband Ricardo and two future world contenders, her son Shai and daughter Sade.
When she’s not empowering a nation of girls to pursue STEM and run the world, Aisha enjoys traveling, cooking, performing arts, writing, reading and spending quality time with family and friends.
